It is not a secret that skin tags are indeed very irritating just to look at. They may not be harmless or cancerous but they just don’t appeal to the eyes especially when they are on the most visible body parts like the face and the neck. They can be a source of embarrassment and that is precisely why people strive to get rid of skin tags as soon as possible. If you have one or a couple of them too, do not worry because removing them is very simple. In fact, you can even do so at home.
One of the methods you can use to get rid of skin tags at home, for example, is a simple surgical procedure. To do this, you will need to obtain a sharp and effective cutting instrument like a scalpel, a pair of scissors or a knife. You then sterilize it by perhaps passing it over a flame or dipping it in hydrogen peroxide or alcohol for some time. To minimize the pain, it is advisable that you numb the area around the skin tag before beginning the procedure. This can easily be done using ice. You should then cut off the skin tag from the base of the stalk and apply some antiseptic cream on the small wound to avoid an infection.
If you are not up to such a method, you can also choose to use a piece of string by tightly tying it at the base of the stalk and leaving it there for a couple of days. This is one of the simplest methods because it deprives the skin tag of Oxygen and other nutrients as you continue with your daily activities. After a few days, the skin tag will begin to fall off.
Perhaps you would rather opt for natural methods to get rid of skin tags. You can for example use Vitamin E and a band aid. All you have to do here is add Vitamin E to the band aid and rub it on the skin tag. After a couple of days, the skin tag will gradually dry up and fall off after the cells within it die.
There are also some trees and herbs which have good extracts that can be used to remove skin tags.
There are a wide range of skin tag removal methods available. What you need to be sure of is the safety and the effectiveness of a method before trying it out.
